(born 1944), US baseball player; full name Steven Norman Carlton ; nicknamed Lefty. He was the first pitcher to win four Cy Young awards 1972, 1977, 1980, 1982. He played chiefly for the St. Louis Cardinals 1965–71 and the Philadelphia Phillies 1972–86. Baseball Hall of Fame (1994).
